New Orleans for (gasp!) Middle Aged couple??

Well, the old guy has a birthday, and we are headed to golf in Alabama, and we end up in New Orleans for 4 days before we head back home.

My husband went to NO post-Katrina on a rebuilding effort, but was so totally exhausted by the end of each day they all ate at the hotel.

I would really LOVE some restaurant recommendations. We love smaller, quieter restaurants with fab food! We%26#39;ll do an evening in the Quarter, for sure, but back when I was younger I thought most of those restaurants were way too touristy. We really love to seek out the great places the locals frequent.

SO, any ideas? Our trip is in late October. And please let me know if I need to get a reservation immediately.

THANKS for the help!

In the French Quarter, I love Stella! It%26#39;s intimate, because it%26#39;s small, and has outstanding and unusual food - with a bit of an asian flair. Try googling them for the web site and sample menu to see if it%26#39;s your cup of tea.

Outside the French Quarter - it was pre-Katrina when we were there, but I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s open again, try Eleven 79. It%26#39;s an authentic Italian place, located at 1179 Annunciation Street. Very cosy and you expect to see Sinatra! LOL It was recommended to us by a local, and we had a great evening. You probably want to get a cab there.

Both of these are definitely on the top of my list for my next visit!

I hope you do not mean reservations for hotels. Voodoo music fest is last weekend of October and I think most hotels are pretty full. I was planning on going but things changed. But I had been looking into it for awhile.

I agree that availability is getting tight although I did find nice rooms by searching hotels online and by looking at B%26amp;Bs via bbnola.com, which is undergoing some type of upgrade.
