We only had the one night, on our way down to Destin, but so glad we tried the Royal Sonesta. I loved it. Beautiful, gracious, relaxing, location, location, location. Our room was on the 4th floor, facing the ppol- loved walking out on the balcony and down to the pool bar. Next time- more pool time!
Revisted Acme Oyster House- immediate seating at the bar- watched the guy shuck oysters. He was quite interesting. Food and beer were great- hit the spot- DH had a dozen oysters (shared a couple) and the fries with gravy (he LOVES them). I had a very sausage sandwich.
Stopped at the Carousel Bar- sad to admit I was too drunk last year to remember much or appreciate it but did much better this go round! Wandered down to Coop%26#39;s, talked to locals, just relaxed. Too tired to do much but have plans for Frenchman next time.
After being awakened at 330 AM for a false fire alarm (that seemed to go on forever!), we woke from a good sleep to pack up, leave our bags with the concierge, do a little shopping, have some lunch at Coop%26#39;s (what can I say- we liked it there!). Gumbo was good, jambalaya was better. Both had good poboys.
Valet parking at Royal Sonesta was very well done- no long wait, polite valets, easy in and out.
Then, goodbye to NOLA until next time!
Less than 24 hours but a great time! Sept 7-8
Sounds a packed time. Its always good to leave something for another trip, good excuse to go back. can I ask you for some info on the carousel bar, what it like atmosphere wise , price wise and where?

Carousel Bar is in the Hotel Monteleone. You see all kinds of folks there- we were definitely toursists, in shorts and t-shirts but there were dressed up people, too- pretty dresses and even men in suits. Just depended where you were headed next, I guess. I think Bud drafts were $3-$3.50. We talked to several people, everyone was quite friendly and relaxed.
yhanks for the info. we are in NO in October and carousel is now added to my wish list, getting longer by the day.
Hi Poodle ~
