Bossier City :versus: Shreveport, LA

I am not understanding the difference betweent these two cities.

How far apart are they? I want to go to the Boardwalk, Funny Bone, and visit a few casinos for mostly entertainment at night while visiting. Which City should we stay in? Any good recs on hotels that aren%26#39;t charging 350.00 just because a entertainer is in town etc.

Bossier City :versus: Shreveport, LA

Since all casinos in that area are riverboat casinos, they%26#39;re all on the river, which separates Shreveport from Bossier City. The Boardwalk is on the Bossier City side of the river and all casinos are within a stone%26#39;s throw of the Boardwalk, regardless of the side of the river on which they%26#39;re located. From a convenience perspective, it really doesn%26#39;t matter which city you choose. I suggest that you make your choice based on hotel quality, price, and proximity to the casino area. Your best bets for reasonable lodging prices are the hotels/motels that aren%26#39;t afiliated with casinos. Casino hotel rack rates are usually inflated because most rooms are comped. If you don%26#39;t have a players card for a particular casino, then you should expect to pay inflated prices for rooms at that casino, if there are any available, especially on weekends. There are quite a few reasonably priced chain hotels within a mile or two of the casino area.

I%26#39;ve stayed in the Remington Suites when in town for trials. It is not fancy, but is close to the river, within walking distance of the casinos on the Shreveport side, and is reasonably priced. Again, not fancy, but not a rathole, and you don%26#39;t spend much time in the room anyway. You can drive across the Red River to Bossier City, which is about 500 yards wide at that point(the river).
