My wife and I (seniors) are thinking of taking a cruise aboard one of the Majestic Cruise Line ships (American Queen, Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen) through the lower or upper Mississippi in the fall.
Anybody have any experience with this type of cruise?

I know this is late to be anwering this, but just in case you still check.....The Upper Mississippi River has beautiful bluffs and in my opinion would be a much better scenic trip. We have cruised on our own boat to the beginning of the naviagable channel in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn., on the Mississippi River and down as far as Hannibal, Missouri. The area from around Dubuque, Iowa, and on upriver has some beautiful scenery.
I talked to a lady who had cruised on one of the ';steamboats'; that you mentioned and it sounded like she had a really fun time. It would be a very relaxing trip, I am sure.

I am considering the same trip and wonder if you went on yours. If not, please look up majestic america line on this site. The Portland and Alaska trips got terrible reviews.
We nerver did go on the trip. We too did not hear glowing reviews. In fact, we were told that it was a rather boring cruise.
